Prof Sandy Leggat shared some of her most memorable moments as a young clinician in Canada, her travels across the globe, and through the health sector to settle in Australia.
Sandy initiated a lively discussion with the guests on the difficulties of stepping out courageously as a leader, goal setting, emotional intelligence, the value of listening, and bringing your whole self to work.

Sandy's 3 Care Points:
- The best leaders are courageous and vulnerable. They're able to create psychological safety for their staff, making it safe to learn.
- Emotional intelligence is key to great leadership and great care. Just thinking about emotions makes a difference to the carers and the cared for.
- Learn to ask good questions of yourself and others, and this means learning to listen to both sides of the situation.
